Release numbers take the form:

When a minor or micro number exceeds 9, the number is reset to zero and the number above it in the hierarchy is incremented.
Trailing zeros may be omitted.
Qualifiers are used to denote the stability of a release:
Release candidates (RC1, RC2, etc.) are not used.
When making a potentially unstable release, the standard approach is to submit a series of releases containing the same version number,
suffixed with the appropriate qualifier:
In imagen, however, each successive release will increment the version number, regardless of qualifiers:
In this case, the qualifier merely denotes the stability of the release.
